Anna Sewell<\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Anna Sewell was born in Norfolk, England, in 1820 and died there in 1878.<\/p>

As a girl, she was seriously injured in an accident that left her with a walking disability. She learned to drive a carriage and developed a close relationship with the horses who enabled her to be mobile. Because of her experience and strong Christian faith, she was appalled by how often horses were mistreated at that time.<\/p>

This cruelty to animals was the main reason she wrote the novel Black Beauty. She also drew attention to the difficult lives of farmworkers and coachmen by presenting positive examples of compassionate individuals.<\/p>

Anna Sewell died only five months after her novel’s publication. Black Beauty soon became an international bestseller. The book has been adapted for film several times, including in series form. However, these adaptations often neglect the original book’s depth, complex plot, and social criticism.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
