Selma Lagerl\u00f6f was born in 1858 at the Marbacka family estate, where she also died in 1940.<\/p>\n

The renowned Swedish author taught for ten years before devoting herself to writing. She was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature for her debut novel, G\u00f6sta Berling. She went on to write more novels, novellas, and autobiographical works. <\/p>\n

Lagerl\u00f6f became a best-selling author with Nils Holgersson’s Wonderful Journey. \n<\/p>\n

This imaginative tale of a boy who first terrorizes animals and then becomes their protector quickly gained international fame and was translated into many languages. While the television series was developed mainly for children, the book is much more profound and is also suitable for young adults and adults. <\/p>\n
