Jules Verne

Jules Verne was born in Nantes in 1828 and died in Amiens in 1905. The French author is now considered the founder of modern science fiction.
Verne worked as a stockbroker in Paris and conducted research at the National Library of France before deciding to write novels that mixed scientific facts with adventurous fiction. His first novel, Five Weeks in a Balloon, made him famous. From then on, he devoted himself exclusively to writing. His works include Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, From the Earth to the Moon, and his often-filmed masterpiece, Around the World in Eighty Days. This novel combines elements of travel, adventure, romance, the detective genre, humor, and drama.
